NORWALK GAMER SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA

Join the Norwalk Gamer Symphony Orchestra as they bring your favorite video game soundtracks to life! Whether you're a longtime gamer or a live music fan looking for something new, the NGSO will take you on a symphonic journey through nostalgic classics and modern masterpieces. Featuring music from The Legend of Zelda, Pokémon, Katamari Damacy, RuneScape, and more, experience iconic video game music performed by local Connecticut musicians and, most importantly, fans that put their love of video games at the heart of every performance.

The NGSO is a community orchestra based in Norwalk, Connecticut, and commits itself to the study, performance, and appreciation of video game scores. Founded in 2016, the volunteer-based, audition-free ensemble has performed throughout Connecticut in its almost ten-year history, including locales such as the Connecticut Convention Center, Westport MakerFaire, the SoNo Collection, and the Sacred Heart University Community Theatre.

The orchestra showcases an atypical instrumentation for an orchestra, from the normal (violins, clarinets, trumpets, etc.) to the unusual (bass flute, saxophone, traditional flutes, drum sets, etc.) to the very unusual (electric guitar, synthesizer, MIDI wind controller, etc.), and possesses a repertoire that reflects that diversity – and which is often arranged by its own members. Audiences can experience the NGSO’s unique sound at concerts and showcases they hold throughout the year.

While the NGSO’s focus is on rehearsal and performance, the orchestra also has an online presence and engages in multiple virtual projects throughout the year, including DLCs (Digital Large Collaborations, in which members individually record parts to add to a full ensemble), virtual recitals, and a yearly Video Game Awards all shared across their channels. Fostering a sense of community, engagement and collaboration carries strong weight within the organization – with the hope of creating a meaningful musical and social experience for members and followers alike.
